Macaroni KID Review: Drenched, Determined, and Definitely Going Back
We visited Carlisle Ford Nationals last year with big plans, excited kids, and the kind of confidence that only comes from believing a weather forecast. Naturally, the sky heard us making plans and chose chaos.
We parked too far away. We hiked. We found the kids’ goody bags. River danced by the grandstand like she had been personally hired as event entertainment. We ate pizza from the food court, which I still maintain was one of my best parenting decisions of the day.
Then came the rain. Not cute rain. Not “grab your umbrella” rain. This was horizontal, poncho-defeating, puddle-stomping, swamp-warrior rain.
And somehow? It turned into one of the most memorable family days we had all summer.
After the storm, we went back in. Because apparently our family brand is “lightly damp but committed.” We found the monster truck rides, and they were absolutely worth the return trip. Our 6-year-old declared it one of the best days of his life, which is a pretty glowing review considering children reserve that level of praise for birthday cake, hotel pools, and finding a waffle fry under the car seat.
The drift demo was another huge hit for the older kids. They wanted to ride along, but ride-alongs were for adults, and I personally chose to remain on the safe and sensible side of “not spinning in circles with a stranger in a neon rocket car.” Watching from the sidelines was still thrilling, loud, and wildly entertaining.
